Privacy Policy
keep.surf is built to be private by default. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have.
Last updated August 17, 2026
Who we are
keep.surf (“we”, “us”) provides a web app and Chrome extension that let you save pages, images, selections, and screenshots to a personal library. Contact: hello@keep.surf.
What we collect
Depending on how you use keep.surf, we may process:
- Account data — email address and authentication details when you sign up (including via Google OAuth if you choose it).
- Library content — items you Keep, such as URLs, titles, descriptions, notes, tags, selected text, and screenshots or images you save. We may cache a resized copy of images you Keep so your library still works if the original page or CDN removes them.
- Extension activity — only when you take an action (right-click Keep, shortcut, or snip). We do not run persistent scripts on every website or track your general browsing history.
- Technical data — basic logs needed to operate the service (for example IP address, browser type, and timestamps tied to API requests).
How we use your data
We use this information to:
- Provide, sync, and display your private library
- Authenticate you and keep your account secure
- Improve reliability and fix bugs
- Respond to support requests you send us
We do not sell your personal data. We do not use your Keeps to train advertising models or show third-party ads in the product.
Chrome extension
The keep.surf Chrome extension is available on the Chrome Web Store. It requests permissions only to support features you initiate: reading the active tab when you Keep something, capturing a visible area when you snip, and talking to keep.surf to save and sync. Host access for the store build is limited to keep.surf.
Content you Keep (URL, title, selection, screenshot, notes) is sent to our servers so it can appear in your library. Sign-in uses Chrome’s identity flow and stores session tokens locally in the extension so you stay signed in.
Sharing and visibility
Your library is private by default. If we offer optional public collections or shared links in the future, we will only make content public when you explicitly choose to publish it.
Service providers
We use trusted processors to run keep.surf, including hosting and authentication/storage providers (currently Supabase and our web host). They process data only to provide their services to us, under appropriate agreements.
Retention and deletion
We keep your account and library content while your account is active. You can delete individual Keeps from the product. To delete your account and associated data, email hello@keep.surf from the address on your account. We may retain limited records where required by law or for legitimate security purposes.
Security
We use industry-standard safeguards such as encrypted transport (HTTPS), access controls, and row-level security so users can only access their own Keeps. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure; please protect your email inbox and devices, and sign out on shared computers.
Children
keep.surf is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.
Your choices
- Access and update your library content in the product
- Sign out of the extension or web app at any time
- Uninstall the Chrome extension from Chrome’s settings
- Request account deletion via hello@keep.surf
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under applicable privacy laws (access, correction, deletion, portability, or objection). Contact us to exercise them.
Changes
We may update this policy as keep.surf evolves. We will change the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, provide additional notice in the product or by email when appropriate.
